Vineyards Outside Barcelona
The Penedes region is the wine growing region of Barcelona. Each Destination of Origin (DO) in Spain has a unique flavour. Rioja has its gorgeous, deep reds, Penedes has its summer whites and cavas. The area has a temperate Mediterranean climate, that unlike in Galicia with its strong atlantic winds that leads to thick skinned grapes. The climate of 300 days of sun and little rain, adds up to some crisp, light, fruitful wines that are best served at the beginning of a beach or pool party!

The whole region is protected by Montserrat mountain. Montserrat, (the serrated mountain) is one of the most religious sights in the whole of Catalonia, and it is easy to see why; the cold winds from the Pyranees are prevented from hitting the wineries due to this magnificent mountain! If it was not for Montserrat, the Penedes wine region would barely be able to make any of the delicious wines it manages to.
Here are our favourite vineyards that are in there Penedes region. They offer both wine and sparkling cava. They are all accessible by road, so you will need a car or private transfer. With all of them, you will have to book in advance, either directly or as part of a tour from the city.

Llopart
What is it?
Llopart is a family run, extremely friendly and professional winery, that are experts in the Spanish sparkling wine of Cava.
Why see it?
Llopart is not just exceptionally picturesque, with views of Montserrat mountain being had from the vineyard itself, but is also the perfect place to try some stunning local cava. The small winery will welcome you with open arms, and even have a restaurant next door.

Albet I Noya
What is it?
Albet I Noya is a small, family run vineyard.
Why see it?
Albet I Noya not only makes some beautiful wines, it prides itself in being ecologically friendly and does some expert tours for smaller groups wanting to see the wine making process and sample some wines.

Albet I Noya is an hour south of Barcelona in the Penedes wine region, and only accessibly by private car or coach.
Albet I Noya is the smallest vineyard of our favourites, and is a family run, eco-friendly company. Albet I Noya not only makes some beautiful wines, it prides itself in being truly organic in its wine production, and does some expert tours for smaller groups wanting to see the wine making process and sample some wines. Do make sure to book in advance, however, as many of these tours have a low number capacity and sell out very fast. Albet I Noya is an hour south of Barcelona in the Penedes wine region, and only accessibly by private car or coach.

Torres
What is it?
Torres is one of the largest wine producers in Spain, having a world famous brand.
Why see it?
Torres has many different tours a day, and is perfect for people to pop into and even just buy from their shop. There is also a little train that takes you around the vineyard, and several different wine tastings available.
Where is it?
Torres is one hour to the south of Barcelona, and accessible by coach, car or train to Vilafranca de Penedes.
Torres is one of the largest wine producers in Spain, having a world famous brand with wines available all around the globe. This particular vineyard has many different tours a day, and is perfect for people who are wanting to pop in on the off chance, or even to simply buy from their shop. It is most likely the best option for anyone who has issues walking, or small children, as there is a little train that takes you around the vineyard. Not only this but there are of course several different wine tastings available, with different amounts of wine and pairing foods available. Torres is one hour to the south of Barcelona, and accessible by coach, car or train to Vilafranca de Penedes and then a short taxi.

Meet at our bar down by the port in Barcelona, where a private guide and transfer will greet you. Once the bus has journeyed up into the picturesque hills of Catalonia, we will arrive at our Vineyard. Here, there is a two hour tour of the Vineyard including an insite into the production of all the various wines; all the way from grape to bottle.
The best, however, is yet to come as to conclude the tour there is a wine tasting and pairing with various meats and cheeses.
Now we have limbered up, we get back on the bus and head towards the beautiful fishing village of Sitges. Here there is a mini tour and some free time to discover the history, beaches, bars and boutique life of this famous Mediterranean town.
After, we then head back in the bus and back to the city to continue your weekend.
